Manchester United and Liverpool have been told to pay at least £6 million for the ‘new Messi’ Ryan Gauld.

The 17-year-old has earned the moniker for his irrepressible displays for Dundee United and has already caught the eye of Liverpool and a host of other top European clubs.United are already thought to have shown their interest by sending Jimmy Lumsden to Scotland’s U-21 game against to run the rule on Gauld.

The 17-year-old produced a stunning display in Dundee United’s 4-1 win over  Partick Thistle in which he produced four assists.

And reports suggest that United and Liverpool will have to pay £6m if they wish to get their hands on Gauld.Newcastle and Everton also sent scouts to watch Gauld.
