Paris Saint-Germain boss Carlo Ancelotti is ready to offer Frank Lampard a way out of his Chelsea nightmare under Andre Villas-Boas.

And Ashley Cole’s Stamford Bridge career could also end this summer, after he too was left out of the Champions League defeat by Napoli.

Villas-Boas admitted he had been confronted by the England stars after axing them hours before the game, in which both Cole and Lampard came on as substitutes.

With Lampard having barely hidden his anger and frustration at his treatment by the Portuguese since the start of the season, his 11-year spell at Stamford Bridge could end with him joining up with former Blues boss Ancelotti at PSG.

A furious Lampard is understood to have told Villas-Boas he was sacrificing players for his personal vindication at the tense meeting in the team’s Italian hotel.

Ancelotti has been monitoring the crisis at the Bridge while keeping his new side, now owned by the Qatari Royal Family, at the top of Ligue 1.

The Italian believes Lampard’s experience and goal instincts – even though he will turn 34 in June – will be invaluable for next term’s Champions League campaign.

With a clear-out now seemingly certain at Stamford Bridge, Cole also looks to be likely to leave after being left out in favour of Jose Bosingwa.

Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid, as well as Inter Milan, have targeted the England defender in the past.

There will be no shortage of clubs keen to land him if it is clear Chelsea are ready to let him go – although the Blues would be likely to want at least £15million.
