Mega-rich Paris Saint Germain are ready to break the bank and go towards the £20million mark for QPR playmaker Adel Taarabt.

The big-spending French side hope the stunning offer for the Moroccan international will be hard for Rangers to resist.

PSG had a deal worth £15m turned down in the summer, but are willing to make an improved offer of £14m up front plus a further £6m in add-ons.

QPR chairman Tony Fernandes and boss Neil Warnock have both said publicly they want to keep mercurial talent Taarabt but that sort of money may test their resolve – even in mid-season.

Italy’s Napoli are also watching developments, but cannot match the spending power of PSG, whose wealthy Middle Eastern owners are also hoping to bring in David Beckham as they try to make the club into a European superpower.

Taarabt, 22, who has been away on international duty, said: “I am prepared for any event in January but the decision depends on QPR.”
