Tottenham look to have pipped Manchester United and Chelsea to Eden Hazard after he reportedly told friends he has chosen White Hart Lane as his summer destination.

After confirming he will leave Lille for the Barclays Premier League at the end of the season, it was thought the Belgium midfielder, 21, had agreed personal terms with Chelsea.

But he has settled on Spurs, according to sources in France, with Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich still interested in Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Willian.

Lille’s £35million asking price for Hazard was thought to be prohibitive, but Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy intends marking his club’s likely Champions League return with a marquee signing.

Tottenham are also planning moves for Newcastle keeper Tim Krul and Ajax skipper Jan Vertonghen.
