Gareth-Bale-Real-Madrid1Manchester United are still on hot on the heels of Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale.

The Red Devils, who recorded a draw against Newcastle yesterday afternoon, have been chasing the 26-year-old for the last two seasons.

Recently, reports have suggested that Bale – who cost Real a whopping £86m two years ago – is unhappy in the Spanish capital and is contemplating a move back to the Premier League.

And according to The Mirror, United chief Louis van Gaal is planning to capitalise on the Welshman’s desire to return to England.

The publication claim the Dutchman, who has forked out £83.1m on five new players this summer, will swoop for the former Tottenham star in the final 72 hours of the transfer window – which slams shut on September 1st.

If United do make a move for Bale, they will face a difficult task to lure the Welshman to Old Trafford as he recently revealed that he has his heart set on winning more trophies with Rafael Benitez’s side.

Speaking after Real’s pre-season friendly victory over Tottenham, he said: “It’s great to have the support of the manager and the president.

“Hopefully I can repay them now with some goals and trophies.”
