Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been handed a lucrative one-year contract extension by Paris Saint-Germain chiefs.

The refreshed deal will see the Swede pocket a mouth-watering £12 million after tax per year and keeps him at Parc des Princes until 2016.

On Tuesday, his agent Mino Raiola said ‘nothing’s been done’. He since accelerated negotiations, however, and L’Équipe sources leaked details this morning.

The club is expected to confirm the new terms before Sunday night, when the Ligue 1 champions take on title contenders AS Monaco.

The lofty 31-year old moved to France from Barcelona, while on loan to AC Milan after falling out with then-coach Pep Guardiola, in July, 2012.

Ibra’s commitment is one of a cluster of others, representing manager Laurent Blanc’s determination to continue to build the PSG brand for the future.

In late August, captain Thiago Silva pledged his services until 2018, as did Marco Verratti in the previous month.
