Lionel Messi is encouraging Sergio Aguero to consider a move back to Spain this summer – and says he’d have no issues if he joined Real Madrid.

Aguero is being linked with a big-money switch to the Bernabeu this summer, but City boss Roberto Mancini has been quick to deny the rumours which suggest a swap involving Gonzalo Higuain.

The Argentina international, who has scored 21 goals for the Premier League leaders this season, is also being urged to move to the Bernabeu by his father-in-law Diego Maradona.

The 23-year-old moved to Manchester City from Real’s rivals Atletico Madrid last summer and reportedly turned down the chance to join Jose Mourinho’s squad.

Despite playing for Real Madrid’s title rivals Barcelona, Messi admits he would like to see his friend move back to La Liga.

He told Radio 9: “If he goes to Real Madrid I am sure it will give him much joy. If it’s the best thing for him, I will be very happy, because of our friendship.

“I get along very well with Kun off the field and we play well together. However in the national team there are very good strikers so we must take advantage of every time we are recalled.”
