Manchester United are tracking Real Madrid teenager Jese Rodriguez Ruiz.

United scout Martin Ferguson has watched Real Madrid’s B side Castilla several times in recent months, when Jese has been at the top of the list of the Spanish club’s impressive young talent.

The 19-year-old forward, who tends to attack from the wings, has already been christened the ‘Cristiano of Valdebebas’ (the name of Madrid’s academy and training ground) because his playing style is similar to Ronaldo.

His contract expires at the end of next season, but sources close to the player insist he would like to stay at the Bernabeu and break into the first team.

That is no easy feat, considering the vast amount of talent Jose Mourinho has at his disposal, which has encouraged several scouts to monitor his progress.

Mourinho gave encouragement to the youngster by taking him on the senior side’s pre-season tours.

He made his official first-team debut in December as a late substitute in the Spanish Cup win against Ponferradina, but has not figured since.

He scored his eighth goal of the season for Castilla, in front of a watching Mourinho, as the side beat Real Vallecano B on Sunday.
