Manchester United boss David Moyes is planning an audacious summer swoop for Barcelona duo Alex Song and Cristian Tello, according to a report on CaughtOffside.

The report claims that Moyes is monitoring the situation of the midfield pair at the Nou Camp and is considering making bids for the out-of-favour duo in the summer.

Former Arsenal star, Alex Song, 26, has been struggling for game-time since new Barcelona manager Gerardo Martino took charge in the summer. Moyes is targeting a tough-tackling midfielder to add a bit of steel to the United midfield and Song fits the bill.

The Cameroon international may be interested in a return to the Premier League with the promise of more playing time – and his previous experience in England is an added bonus for the Red Devils.

The report also suggests that United are eyeing up a move for Song’s team-mate, Cristian Tello. Like Song, the 22-year-old attacker has struggled for minutes under Martino and a move to Old Trafford may well interest the young Spaniard as he tries to force his way into the national side.

With the likes of Xavi, Iniesta, Busquests, Messi, Pedro, Neymar, Fabregas and Sanchez all above Song and Tello in the Barcelona pecking order, the Catalan giants may well be willing to cash-in on their misfits to cut the club’s wage-bill.

After a disappointing first season in charge, it is well documented that Moyes is planning a huge overhaul of his United squad in the summer.

Current midfielders Tom Cleverly, Nani, Ashley Young, Antonio Valencia, and Anderson (currently on loan at Fiorentina) are all fighting to save their Old Trafford futures after poor performances throughout the season.
