Bafana Bafana defender Siyabonga Sangweni is still hopeful of getting a move away from Golden Arrows – and he insists Kaizer Chiefs remains his desired destination.

Sangweni says his heart will only be at peace if he retires from football having played for Amakhosi.

He believes he should have already been at Naturena, had the two clubs agreed on a transfer fee which he insists was lower than the R5-million that Chiefs coach Vladimir Vermezovic reportedly felt was too much for a 29-year-old.

“You know where I want to be if I am going to make a move … my first choice is to be at Chiefs,” he said to KICK OFF magazine.

Belgian club Standard Liege considering putting in a bid for Valery Nahayo, the Arrows defender believes he might yet get his wish.

“I know that Chiefs’ style of play will suit my game and they have a culture of winning and I want to be part of that,” Sangweni said.

“I wish something could happen in January. For now I can only talk and wait in hope that this all turns into reality.”
