Vasco Da Gama skipper Keenan Lesch insists that his side will fight to stay in the Premier Soccer League in the dying embers of the campaign.

The Cape Town side currently occupy the final relegation spot and face tricky clashes with SuperSport United and Santos in their final two games of the season.

Lesch feels his side have what it takes to pick up six more points and believes that should be enough to see the club retain their top flight status.

“We will fight for every point. We respect both teams but points are what we need and in this league anyone can beat anyone,” Lesch told The Citizen.

“The last two games will be tough but we know what we have to do and that is to get maximum points.

“I don’t see why we will not win these last remaining matches. It is 11 against 11 for 90 minutes.

“Just like there is a mathematical chance that the three teams at the top can win the league, there is still a mathematical chance that any team in the bottom three can get relegated to the play-off spot.”

After a fantastic start to the campaign, Vasco have fallen apart of late – with no wins in their last six games.

Lesch believes his side’s poor form is down to their inability to focus for the full 90 minutes, with late goals their crutch.

“The problem with us this season is that we conceded too many late goals. We need to work on our concentration and stay focused for the whole 90 minutes – or 95 plus minutes if that’s the case,” the midfielder added.
