Roger de Sa has been unveiled as the new Ajax Cape Town head coach ending weeks of speculation following his resignation from the Orlando Pirates job last month.

Ian Taylor, who held the fort following Muhsin Ertugral’s sudden departure in early January, will resume his duties as assistant coach alongside David Nyathi.

In a statement posted on the club’s website, executive director Ari Efstathiou welcomed De Sa and confirmed that he had signed on until 2016.

“After a long deliberation and thorough analysis of all the applications that we have received, we believe that we have found the right man to steer us forward,” said Efstathiou.

“Roger has proved himself as an astute coach with a good understanding of South African football, having coached at Bidvest Wits (twice), Santos and Orlando Pirates.

“He supports youth development, which is fundamental to Ajax Cape Town future plans and has during his time at Wits introduced many youth players who have succeeded internationally and in the PSL,” he added.
