As expected, Milan have officially confirmed the arrival of Antonio Cassano from Sampdoria via a statement on their official website on Monday.

“A.C Milan communicates to have acquired the footballer Antonio Cassano on definitive terms.”

But, the club did not release details of the transfer as fees and contract duration were undisclosed.

However, previous reports claimed Cassano had signed a three-and-a-half-year deal, and will pocket around €2.8million per annum.

There were reports Milan and Sampdoria agreed to go halves on a €5million fee owing to Real Madrid, but that has not been confirmed.

The €5m was a clause inserted in the player’s Sampdoria contract when he arrived in 2007 which stated the Italians would have to pay the fee if they sold him before 2013.

28-year-old Italian international Cassano joined Milan for their tour of Dubai training programme on December 26 and has been working for them since, making his debut in a 2-1 friendly win over Al Ahli on Sunday.

Cassano parted company with Sampdoria after a feud with club president Riccardo Garrone in October nailed his move away from the club.
