mario-balotelli-liverpool1Mario Balotelli has agreed to join Lazio on a season-long loan deal, according to reports in Italy.

The Liverpool striker appears to have no future at Anfield and has been linked with a host of clubs from all across Europe.

Sevilla were recently mentioned as potential suitors along with Watford, but Italian publication Tuttomercatoweb claim the Serie A giants are now the frontrunners for his signature.

It represents something of a shock as the Rome-based club previously ruled themselves out of a move.

However, they are understood to have had a change of heart after German striker Miroslav Klose picked up an injury in their 1-0 win over Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League play-off round on Wednesday.

Reports suggest Liverpool have agreed to pay 70 per cent of the Italian’s wages, which are thought to be in the region of £4million a year.

Balotelli could join former Manchester United midfielder Ravel Morrison at the club, who moved to Italy from West Ham in January.

And the deal appears to have the backing of former striker Marco Di Vaio, who is relishing the prospect of the 25-year-old turning out for his old club.

“I’d take him,” he said.

“He would be fascinating to see once again in our league and in a Lazio shirt.”
