Juventus captain Alessandro Del Piero believes their new stadium will spark a revolution in Italian football.

The Juventus Stadium is ready for its inaugural game against Notts County on Thursday evening before Parma arrive for the big Serie A kick-off on Sunday.

And Del Piero hopes other clubs will follow the example set by the progress being made in Turin.

“It is a cultural revolution, and surely a revolution of the football world. It is an important step for us,” Del Piero told Sky Sport.

“I really hope this will now become the norm for Italian football and its stadiums.”

Del Piero will be playing in his fourth Juventus home having previously done so at the old Comunale which later became the Olimpico, as well as the Delle Alpi which was razed and replaced by the new venue.

“It is a great record because I will have played in four different stadiums at Juventus,” he said.

The new venue will seat just over 41,000 fans and the first row is just seven-and-a-half metres from the pitch.
