Hellas Verona have slapped a £24m price-tag on Liverpool target Juan Manuel Iturbe.

The Italian club are defiant that Liverpool will have to meet their demands to bring the 20-year-old prodigy to Anfield.Italian sources claim that Liverpool have been monitoring the progress of young Iturbe, and are now ready to make a move.

Iturbe had an extremely impressive spell with Verona last season, and the side have a £12m agreement with parent club Porto to make the move permanent.

However, Verona are keen to make an immediate profit for the winger who has made just 33 appearances for the side.Verona’s sporting director Sean Sogliano made no secret of his desire to cash in on Iturbe, and sent a message to his admirers when telling Italian television: “Iturbe? For me he is worth more than £24m.

“If we can sell at a figure to make a fortune for Verona he may leave…I do not know where he will go. I will only sit down with those who really want him.”

Verona know they hold all the cards in price negotiations for the Argentine. And with a host of elite European sides chasing the starlet, Liverpool could find themselves in a wage war.

Brendan Rodgers has become synonymous with nurturing young and exciting talent with Raheem Sterling, Jordan Henderson and Daniel Sturrdige amongst his success stories.
