erik-lamela-tottenhamRoma are eyeing a move for Tottenham midfielder Erik Lamela, according to reports in Spain.

The 23-year-old Argentina international moved to Spurs from Roma in a deal worth a club-record £30million in 2013 but struggled to live up to his price-tag.

However, he has been given a new lease of life under Mauricio Pochettino, scoring eight goals for the Premier League title contenders.

And, according to Spanish publication Fichajes, Lamela’s new-found form has prompted the Serie A side to renew their interest in the player, who was a fan favourite during his time in Rome.

The report further adds that Roma want to secure a return for Lamela if Miralem Pjanic leaves the club at the end of the season, with Real Madrid believed to be showing a keen interest in the Bosnian.

Lamela has himself admitted he would like to return to Roma but insists he is not ready to leave Tottenham.

“I’ve always thought of Tottenham,” he told Fox Sport in response to Roma’s interest. “Here they make me feel important.

“For the moment a move is difficult, but maybe in the future why not?.”

Lamela has also been attracting interest from Juventus and Inter Milan.
