Manchester United are back on the trail of their former young player Paul Pogba – now valued at around £60million by Juventus.
Pogba was a target when David Moyes was in charge and talks to bring the 21-year-old midfielder back to Old Trafford were at an advanced stage. Now new boxx Louis Van Gaal has also mentioned Pogba to United’s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward who is in charge of transfers. But it’s understood that United have been quoted a price of £60m for a player who was allowed to leave for just around £5m.
Van Gaal, who begins work at Old Trafford once he completes his World Cup commitments with Holland, has Pogba on his wanted list.
The Dutchman, who is said to have a £200m warchest for new players, also has his eyes on Roma’s Dutch playmaker Kevin Strootman and Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels.
United believe Pogba would like to return to England to be closer to his brother Mathias who is at League One Crewe.
But it would mean a huge transfer outlay for the French international.
