Red hot Mamelodi Sundowns marksman Katlego “Killer” Mphela has asked the club to allow him to join Serbian side Partizan Belgrade during the January transfer window.

According to Kickoff the Serbian champions have tabled what is termed a “strong written offer” for the Bafana Bafana striker, and are now waiting for the Brazilians to respond.

“Killer” sees the move as the perfect re-entry to Europe and says the time is right for him to leave Mzansi again, having previously had a spell with French side Strasbourg between 2004 and 2006.

“I am very grateful to Sundowns for all that they have done for me, but I am not getting any younger and I feel the time is right for me to make a move to Europe,” Mphela said.

“If I play well and score goals then I know that bigger teams will come in for me,” added PSL’s 2009/10 season top goal scorer.

“I feel like I have achieved all that I can in South Africa and it is time to take the next step in my career.

“I am not unhappy at Sundowns, I enjoy playing for the club, but I am desperate to test myself in Europe again and improve as a player. I would like to appeal to the club to let me leave and realise my dreams.

“I think it [a move to Partizan] would be a good fit for me because they are a club that is well-known for selling players on to the bigger leagues of Europe,” Mphela added. “It is a good place for me to start and find my feet, and if I play well and score goals then I know that bigger teams will come in for me. There is none of the pressure of going straight to a top league.”

Sundowns have already turned down three written offers for Mphela from clubs since the 2010 World Cup, one from English Premiership side Birmingham City.
